If we have a point system agian - we have to add head to head as the first tie breaker.

In the round-robin Moore beat Bob J - but BJ had 1 more point than Moore.

Tonight is the first NFG palyoff game - while the botton three teams have a bit of a mountain to climb, it is anyone's championship to win. Proline is predicting high level of activity - so avoid the lines and get your picks in asap.

Maybe we pulled the plug a little early on Friday night - but it was pretty miserable – cold damp slippery. All teams interested in playing this coming Friday – we will get umps and Play. All ready heard from Sanco – who are not available.

Maybe Stone Cottage would like a tune-up before the playoff weekend?

Captian’s Message (Re: huge loss last week and importance of this weeks game):

Hey all

It appears that I can't leave you guys alone for one game. After last week's s-kicking, its time we get down to business and show this league who's the best.

This Friday, Densgrove 2, our last regular season game, we play the Bob Johnsons. A win gets us first, a loss ends the season in third.

Aside from bragging right (which are large), 1st also guarantees us the best diamond for all games in the playoffs - 3rd guarantees us the worst. To coin a phrase form one of my favourite Hockey coaches - "Let's get our heads out of our asses" - and play ball!

Remember - we are faster, smarter, stronger and better looking than the other team - so let's go out and kick some butt.

Who's in this week?
Remember the playoffs are September 8 and 9 - please let me know of any conflicts there as well.

Steve Effer thought you didn`t show up so you would prove to us your are indispensable!!! Ya, we did get our butts kicked, but we were playing with 5 girls and 4 boys for part of the game (all girl infield), and that was the only inning that we didn`t suck!!! Than a few more boys decided to mossie on in well after the game had started, but we were way in the hole by than and couldn`t pull ourselves out of it.

I`m in for this Friday, don`t know how much I`ll help out, but I am a body out there.

I'd like to say that i pitched a great game.

Even the other team commented on how perfect my pitches were. Right over the plate, perfect for crushing I think was the comment.

I'm in for all.

Hey, Chris! I'm out for this Friday (my annual cottage weekend) BUT will be there on the 8th and the 9th for the playoffs. Hope you guys win big this Friday-------psychological edge for the playoffs and all.

That last game was way closer than the score would make it seem. Honest. Could have gone either way for awhile there. (I'm sure everyone who played would agree with me!!)

It was a battle for first, so to speak – but Effer’s team (Stone Cottage) were packing hand grenades and the Short side were fluffing pillows – 33 – 2 or something like that.

Not to worry, now that the Stone Cottage is riding the confidence wave, Team Short is getting ready to pull some David Blain type play-off magic. Stay tuned to see who’s name goes on the NFG cup – it is only a couple of weeks away.

I had serious inquiries from 3 teams in the last 2 weeks. A team from the Guildwood league was willing to put a deposit down. Looks like we are going to expand next year - what do you all think?

Anyone know of better diamonds?

Did you know - Don Mattingly has the single season record for grandslam homeruns with 8.

Even more impressive is his career total for grandslams is also 8.

Strange but true..

Hats off to Adrian's Crew - Roosters gave Team Short more than they could handle in a very close, back and forth battle. In the end good prevailed over evil and Team Short got the two points.

Actually the only thing that I was concerned about was a tie - as it stands now I've got no room in my standings table (on the home page) to add a tie column.

Play Off Format Questions

1. Everyone OK with the proposed Schedule? (See below)

2. Wanna Play at Poplar RD on the Saturday - Densgrove 1, and Poplar A and B?

3. Playoff Game Length, 1.5 Hour games (no new inning after 1 hour 15) - OK?

4. Tie Breaker for playoff: head to head in playoffs, then 5 points for win + 1 point per inning won, then regular season head to head, standings in the regular season, coin flip. What do you think (remember everyone gets an extra game)?

5. Playoff Prizing - I'm OK with none, but maybe it would be nice to have a Team Trophy that can be passed around from year to year. Some people might want shirts, mugs bags, or something (I don't).

6. Subsidized beers / party at the Stone Cottage right after the final games (we might have around $1000 left over - dependent on above) – OK? Other suggestions?
